Just a thought:

Stephen R. Covey’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” remains a bestseller. It is a book that ignores latest trends and simply focuses on concepts of fairness, integrity, honesty and human dignity.

I think the following quote from him is certainly appropriate in this day of multi-tasking and hurry, hurry, hurry.

“The key is not spending time but investing it.”

In general:

Usually when I write this blog, I look through my notes, start at the beginning and go from there. This time it’s different. I started researching the reviews I have collected from Internet Profits. The one that intrigued me most was titled The Fast Track- more about it in the Reviews section.

Anyway, due no doubt to my convoluted thinking, I first started thinking about fast trains but then got sidetracked (sorry!) to reflecting on time. The older I get the faster it seems to go.

Back in my school days’ time either dragged or raced along far too quickly. School finished at 3.30pm and that last half hour seemed to go on forever if it was a Maths lesson. But if it was a library day I often couldn’t get the book finished that I was reading and not allowed to borrow. (Our school library had strange rules!)

Time stretched out in a glorious medley of heat, sand, and swimming in the long hot summer holidays. Days of wandering around with our gang from surf to beach and back, the only rule we all had to remember was to be home before the sun had set. No sunscreen or hats or water bottles. And not a single care in the world. For us the holidays seemed to last forever.

We didn’t mind going back to school when the time came. We had so much to tell.

Today, even the current school kids think the holidays go too quickly. I am not sure how this has happened, maybe because we are all so busy with so much to do that it seems as though we can never fit everything in. What do you think?

The animal family:

A broody hen is the issue this week. As soon as I let them out of their coop in the morning she races off into the bushes where she has a supposedly secret nest. (Connor found it days ago!)There she lays an egg and settles down into the serious business of hatching it. However there are two major problems.

Number 1 there is no rooster so the egg is infertile.

Number 2 she is going to be shut in the coop with the others come evening and I am going to take the egg.

We’ve been going through this process every day for the past week. I feel a bit sorry for her but also admire her determination even though she is devoting herself to a lost cause.

My book:

The Other Side of the Ocean is still selling consistently. A friend and I attended the Yankalilla Markets for the second time and had a fun day. We both had good sales and once again enjoyed a wonderful day with friendly helpful people. We heard some interesting stories from some of the professional marketers who “do” the markets for a full-time income. They put in so much work to create their wares then get them to the markets. I think two Saturdays a month is enough for me.

My business:

I’ve just realised that I’ve been involved in the affiliate marketing business for nearly a year! As I may have mentioned earlier… how time flies!

Most of the time I have been learning how to actually run the business-how to keep myself accountable and how to consistently turn up day after day without the constraints of having a job. I have a reasonable routine which I can vary if I need to so  that I can be sure that I can work at it for two hours a day.

I started off by securing my copy of The Iceberg Effect and have slowly branched out from there. Internet Profits is my “Home base” where I can rely on really good mentoring and regular training. Although it’s a business arrangement it has also become a source of many friendships all around the world. I still love what I am doing as much as when I started.

A fantastic surprise this past week was getting my first sale. Much more than the money was the reassurance that I can actually do this! Just by following a plan and sticking with it.

I’m not expecting to suddenly become a multi-millionaire overnight. What I am expecting is to get better and better at it until it is providing me with a healthy income.

As I have mentioned before I am determined to work this business  in a way which is ethical and provides value for “my” people. So when I review a product that is not part of the Internet Profits stable I am very careful to research it thoroughly so that I can be sure I am not offering a crock. There are far too many of them out there!
