Is affiliate marketing worth it?

The week in general:

Schoolies week has just ended. For those that don’t know, it’s a time when the most recent school leavers take a few days off to celebrate the end of their school years. The reason it comes to my attention, even though I have no school age children, is that my home is close to the beach and hundreds of kids gravitated to the beach each day.

Usually schoolies week is accompanied by regular news reports about drug and alcohol induced violence, arrests and general havoc caused by the kids. Not so this year. What I observed was a genuinely happy, friendly group who just wanted to spend their days at the beach and their nights partying and dancing. No fighting and only one arrest (and he was a 40-year-old man!) No complaints of property damage from caravan parks or motels. Just a group of kids having a good time.

It gives me hope for the future when these young kids will be our next leaders. If they can approach the next stage of their lives with that same level of common sense and joy then I think this world is in for a smoother ride than many of us expected. It’s nice to see a hopeful future rather than the other!

The animal family:

It seems the doggy world is also involved in the Christmas time break up parties. On Sunday I took Connor to our dog club Christmas Party and we both had a great time. (Yes I know-a dog’s Christmas party? What the…?)

Any way the time was spent having fun trying different doggy sports. I think Connor’s favourite was the tunnels. There were 14 to negotiate and my plan was to have a go at maybe 6 or 8. But once Connor started she wouldn’t stop so we ended up doing all 14. The chocolate coin I got as a prize was well received-I was exhausted. Connor had steadied down considerably too. We both needed a little lie down!

That’s it for dog club until early February, when all the training and competitions will start all over again. Nice for me to have a break and for Connor to just be a dog for a while with no expectations.

My book:

“The Other Side of the Ocean” continues to sell.

If you are interested in buying a copy the publishers are Booktrails Agency.  You can contact them at https://www.booktrail-agency.com/

I also have a number of copies for sale if you’d like to purchase one from me. I am selling them for $30 a copy which includes postage. Just drop me a message in the comments for further details.

My business:

Well…is affiliate marketing worth it?

Depends. What is it you are looking for?

Are you looking for a quick way to make a lot of money …fast?

Are you looking for a kind of magic money-making machine where you hit a few keys, go to bed and next morning find thousands of dollars in your account?

There’s plenty of those kinds of promises on the net-I know, I’ve seen them.

But I’ve yet to meet someone who’s actually succeeded in that sort of venture.

What I have seen is many people who have spent a fortune and are still waiting for the magic to happen. So…long story short… No. Affiliate marketing is not worth your while if that’s what you are expecting.

But… if you’re prepared to learn then yes. Affiliate marketing is a great way to build a viable business that will grow in strength and depth as you gain the knowledge and expertise to make it work.

My method (which works for me) is to treat the whole experience as a learning curve and accept my position as a raw beginner just learning the ropes. Like an apprentice except it is my own business and whether it is successful or not stops with me.

At this point I need to say I am so glad I joined Internet Profits. I get regular coaching, on call assistance whenever I need it and a friendly knowledgeable group of people around me who truly lead by example.

Yes, sometimes it’s hard to hear of someone who started a few months before me who is now regularly earning thousands per month doing what I’m still learning to do.

But it’s also encouraging to realise that only a few short months ago, that person was just as much a beginner as I am now.

My current learning curve is about directing my focus on to building my subscriber list and to stop comparing myself with others who are ahead of me in this game.

My current subscriber list is currently at 122 members, my goal is to reach 200 before Christmas. Now those numbers are small compared to some but at the beginning of last May my subscriber list was zero. That kind of progress is measurable and encouraging.

So in summary, if you’re prepared to learn, to take action and to work at it, in my opinion affiliate marketing is well worth the effort. I thoroughly recommend giving it a try.

If you’d like to learn more about affiliate marketing you can learn so much from The Iceberg Effect. Just click on this link to get your free copy.

There are other options too in the Internet Profits range. If you are ready to get your feet wet, then you could try the Quick Start Challenge. It’s a short course (6 days) to guide you through the basics. It lets you get a grasp of the business and decide whether it’s something you would like to commit to. You can find out more about it on this link by clicking here.

Wrapping up the week:

It looks like the Christmas break up parties are gathering momentum so it’s likely to be a busy time for us.

Have a wonderful week everyone and take care.

Remember please add your comments so I know whether or not you are finding this post interesting.

Take care

Bev

  1. It’s great to hear about a positive schoolies week and the responsible behavior of the young people celebrating. It’s also refreshing to hear about a dog’s Christmas party – sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on affiliate marketing and the importance of taking a learning approach.

About Me

Hello, I’m Beverley Bell, the creator of this blog. My main reason for starting this blog is to help people who are interested in starting a business they can operate from home.

Most of my skillset is in the field of writing which I guess is why I am drawn to blogging. The plan is to make this blog into an income earning creation that will enable me to earn a living helping people while at the same time doing something I love.

I am also trying my hand at novel writing. I have one novel published which is just starting to attract some attention.

My other interest is in affiliate marketing. I tried this a few years ago and failed dismally. However I have recently started working with an affiliate marketing company and I’m learning all about why it all went so wrong in my first attempt. And more importantly, how to get it right this time. And that’s what I want to share with you.
